5 Tips on Taking Creative Couple Shots

Isn’t it a little boring to take portrait or landscape photos using plain white walls with your loved one? Time for a little change. Here are a few tips on how you can take a creative couple shoot.

1. Let your imagination run wild

There are no fixed places for photo shoots, so let your creative juices flow. You’d be surprised at the outcomes.

2. Plan in advance

I will describe the type of photographs i have in mind to my boyfriend. Since he is aware of my intentions, he is able to capitalize on photo opportunities that may arise. This would allow for more natural looking photographs.

Photo shoots are similar to films, they require multiple shots before the best shot is taken. Although candid shots are sometimes the nicest, they are few and far between.

3. Props

Use props to help add that something extra into pictures. Sometimes by using props, you may even capture candid moments when you and your partner interact with each other. Hearts and flowers are usually the basic props to use in couple photos as they symbolize romance. However, i would recommend props that are less common like bicycles, balloons, fences, wooden benches. Think out of the box!

4. Poses

Common poses on social media usually consist of kissing, holding hands and hugging. Why not bring it to the next level by using props to add that something extra?

A simple photo can be a refreshing change from generic couple shots. It gets pretty dull constantly seeing couple photos using a plain white background. Dare to be different and embrace new methods.

5. Try anything and everything

Be brave, step into the unknown. You never know what you might find.

(* a little note: try not to take photos that are too over the top. This is to avoid your photos going viral for the wrong reasons.)
