President Buhari on Wednesday withdrew Ahmed Ibeto of Niger State’s name from the list of ministerial nominees. He has replaced Ibeto with, Abubakar Bwari, who is also from Niger State.
According to Vanguard, Ibeto’s name was withdrawn because Bwari’s name was in the second batch of names in the second ministerial list, and no one knew at the time that both individuals were from Niger State. As a result, one of them had to be dropped.
Speaking on the mix up, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Buhari, Femi Adesina said:
“The names of ministerial nominees President Muhammadu Buhari has sent to the Senate for screening, had no states of origin attached to them. As soon as the President does that, it will be made public.”
Reports state that with Ibeto reportedly dropped, the total number of ministerial nominees now stands at 36 instead of 37.
