After getting released from jail in June, Chris tells MTV’s Sway that he essentially became a changed man. “I didn’t have any animosity toward anybody. I was just focused on me and what I was doing,” he answered in response to his participation in the feud-ending ESPY Awards skit with Drake.“I just wanted to be able to bring light to the situation and just grow up. I’m 25 — I’m not getting any younger. I’m still young, but you can’t walk around holding grudges and looking over your shoulder and being negative all the time.
“I’m tired of being looked at as the ‘aggressor.’ I just wanted to show my maturity.”
The source of their feud was, of course, Rihanna, 26. Chris was vague on whether she was brought up during Chris and Drake’s reunion, only telling Sway that “It was already understood … it wasn’t no problem.”
Chris Brown & Drake: A Duet In The Works?
Prior to their skit, the first hint that their beef had been squashed was when Chris and Drake were photographed in the studio together in July. When asked about a possible collaboration, Chris reveals that if X hadn’t already been finished at the time, a song between the two might have made it in. However, Chris knows “it’ll be a big thing for the fans to hear a song [with Drake], but it has to be the right song.”
Fun fact: Drake liked Chris’ vibe in the studio — where Drake records just with his producers and collaborators, Chris has a party.
“It’s like the club — 15-20 girls, a couple of my homies, couple drinks, everybody having fun and I just get the vibe off of them unless I’m trying to write a really serious, sad song,” says Chris.
That’s a little hilarious — of course Drake’s recording sessions are the most serious-ever endeavors while Chris’ up-tempo beats make for a party.
