Nicki Minaj is extending the olive branch to Iggy Azalea! When the rapper took the stage at the BET awards to accept the honor for Best Female Hip Hop Artist, Nicki accused newcomer Iggy, of not writing her own lyrics. Now, the ‘Anaconda’ artist is squashing the beef and opening up about what she really meant by her comments.
Nicki Minaj, 31, has never been shy — just look at the cover of her latest single, “Anaconda,” where she is wearing nothing but a pink thong! Now, she is coming clean and opening up to The FADER magazine, about what she really meant when she was accused of throwing shade at Iggy Azalea, 24. Major shade was thrown Iggy’s way on June 29, at the BET Awards. As previously reported, when Nicki was accepting her award she said, “But my point is, what I want the world to know about Nicki Minaj is, that when you hear Nicki Minaj spit, Nicki Minaj wrote it.” She quickly realized how her comment was taken, and explained further saying, “No, no, no shade. No, no, no shade.” Unfortunately, the shade was already thrown. On the 93rd issue of the magazine, Nicki graced the cover looking gorgeous in a tight red dress. Opening up about her career, family and what she meant by the comment at the awards show, The Pink Print, rapper spilled it all.
The rapper said, “My point of saying what I said was that women need to have a perspective,” she starts off. “If we’re out here saying that we’re so confident, and we’re so this and so that, but we don’t even trust ourselves to write down our own thoughts and spit it on a beat?” Full of energy she said, “It just doesn’t add up.”
We appreciate Nicki attempting to end her feud but, we are not sure what Iggy’s reaction will be. Hopefully she will not take offense from Nick’s comments and see them in the uplifting manner in which they were meant.
T.I. Defends Iggy Azalea
It is clearly the summer of Iggy! With her collaboration on Ariana Grande‘s “Problem,” and her own song, “Fancy,” the stunner is everywhere. Luckily, one of Iggy’s biggest supporters, Grand Hustle boss, T.I. was quick to come to her defense saying that he is not her ghostwriter. As previously reported, he said,“I couldnt write a lot of the s–t she say,” T.I. said. “I couldn’t put her thoughts into words as articulate as she does. She just has a different way of presenting herself and her art.”
While T.I. did say that Iggy is responsible for her lyrics during his interview with Detroit’s Hot 107.5, he does admit that people in the studio help each other. “Now, don’t get me wrong, everybody in the studio helps with hooks and certain things like that. That goes for me and any of the other top five rappers [and] performers.”
Hopefully this feud is over once and for all! Let’s hope that these two can put their differences aside and make some amazing music together!
