Whoa. We’re still catching our breath from the June 30 episode of 24: Live Another Day. One of Jack’s (Kiefer Sutherland) most hated enemies made a shocking return, Kate (Yvonne Strahovski) confronted Navarro (Benjamin Bratt) over his betrayal and Chloe (Mary Lynn Rajskub) learned another devastating secret. Check out our full recap!

’24: Live Another Day’ Recap: Operation Override

It wasn’t long before Kate knew about Navarro. Jack relayed the information about Navarro ditching with the override device. The device could access multiple weapons systems and give everyone access to weapons of mass destruction. After stealing the device, Navarro called Adrian (Michael Wincott) to talk about the next plan of action. Adrian agreed that once he handed it over that Navarro would be taken swiftly out of the country.
Meanwhile, Chloe started to notice something was up with Adrian. Adrian finally admitted that he was taking back Yates’ override device, which he had created. Yates had stolen it. The device basically will lead to mass havoc and the person who has it will completely rule the world. (In a nutshell.)
Upon spotting Navarro, Bauer chased after him. A shootout ensued between the two agents. Navarro was running scared in the direction of Adrian’s drop point. He found the envelope that Adrian had placed for him with his new passport, but nothing on his getaway car. Adrian told him to just hand over the device. Navarro complied and Adrian fooled him.
Navarro was finished. Jack found him and arrested him on the spot.

Jack didn’t have time to beat down Navarro at the moment because he had to track down Adrian and Chloe. He headed to Liverpool station. Jack was a little late to catch Chloe and Adrian on the train. He tried to warn her, but couldn’t find her in time. (Chloe was being momentarily clueless.)

’24: Live Another Day’ Recap: Confessions Of A Traitor

Jack knew that Adrian had been avoiding the police for years and was up to something big, but Jack just couldn’t believe that Chloe was truly involved.
It seems like everyone was attempting to uncover true motives in this episode. Kate was determined to find out if Jordan was working on anything concerning Navarro before he died.
At the President’s place, Audrey (Kim Raver) told Heller (William Devane) that Air Force One was ready to take him back to the United States. Heller was blaming himself for all that had happened. There wasn’t much time to mope because Erik called him and let Heller know that the override device had been stolen.
IMPORTANT INFO ABOUT THE OVERRIDE DEVICE: The device can be used to hack into confidential military information. If such information on weapons is released to everyone, the results could be catastrophic.
Kate’s tech guy discovered that Navarro was the one who sold the intel to the Chinese, not Kate’s husband! Despite his name being cleared, it was too late for Kate’s husband. He killed himself one month into his life sentence.
Jack wanted to be the main guy to talk to Navarro. Jack was the only one who could get through to him. Navarro didn’t fear anyone else. Jack made sure Kate was OK with observing his interrogation after learning of Navarro’s betrayal. (Jack and Kate’s friendship is one of the main highlights of the show.) Jack went into interrogation. Poor Navarro.
Navarro confessed that he never knew he was dealing with Adrian, but did know where he was. He just wanted one thing in return: Full immunity. Jack was baffled at this request and asked nicely one more time to spill. When Navarro didn’t listen, Jack started beating the daylights out of him and even broke his hand. (It’s OK because Navarro was such a tool.)

’24: Live Another Day’ Recap: Bullet To The Heart

Audrey and Mark (Tate Donovan) had been walking on unsteady ground since Mark lied about Heller’s intention to sacrifice himself to Margot (Michelle Fairley). It was about time they had a talk. Audrey apologized for snapping at him earlier, but Mark was there to talk about more. “The moment Jack Bauer showed up in London things changed,” Mark boldly stated.
Audrey, clearly stunned, swore that her relationship with Jack was over. Mark was done messing around. He wanted to know where they stood, but Audrey wasn’t going to talk to him like this so she left. So what did Mark do in his anger? He called his Russian diplomat friend who was out for Jack’s head. While he wasn’t ready to hand over Jack, he would tell the Russians where to find him. (Ruh roh.)
Thankfully, Chloe got a clue about Adrian’s dangerous plan. She told Adrian she just had to pee, but started to bolt. She said she he couldn’t just distribute weapons of destruction to everyone. He threatened her with a gun and forced her to get in the car.
Meanwhile, Kate was seething about Navarro’s betrayal. She wasn’t going to let him get away with it. She fiercely walked into his hospital room and pulled a gun on Navarro. She was ready to put a bullet through his head. During what he thought were his final moments, he revealed he put a tracker on the override device. Jack came into the room right as Kate was about to pull the trigger and convinced her to rethink her choice. “You’re going to be executed for murder and treason and I’m going to be there to watch,” Kate spat. She continued to blame herself for her husband’s death. She stopped believing in him, which she thought was the reason behind his suicide. Jack told her she had to move on. There was no point dwelling on the past.
Everyone needed to move fast on the override device’s location before Adrian disappeared. As he was handing over Mark’s immunity papers, Mark was shocked to find out that Jack was heading the operation to find the device given what he just told his Russian contact.

’24: Live Another Day’ Recap: The Return Of Cheng

Adrian may have thought he had things under control, but he was sadly mistaken. When he arrived back to his underground team, they were all dead and the Chinese were involved! They were the one who paid him to develop the override device.
And guess who was the mastermind at the head of the Chinese? CHENG ZHI (Tzi Ma)– Jack’s biggest and baddest foe! He had kidnapped Jack and tortured him for a year and did the same thing to Audrey!
Chloe said she wasn’t going to help Cheng with his plan, but when he shot Adrian she was pretty much forced to. She attempted to sabotage his plan, but Cheng wasn’t stupid. He just needed Chloe for one specific task.
Mark made a frantic call to his Russian contact and pleaded with him not to go forward with his plans to kill Jack. Jack was hard at work trying to find the override device. It was his top priority, even over Chloe!
While Cheng was plotting, Adrian admitted shocking news to Chloe. Despite believing her husband and son’s death was targeted at her, Adrian assured her that it was just an accident. (Hearts everywhere are broken for Chloe.) Chloe didn’t have much time for forgiveness because Cheng shot Adrian right in the head!
Jack and Kate were close by, but suddenly got pummeled by a huge truck! They weren’t hurt, but the Russians were closing in on them. Jack and Kate realized they were under attack and a shootout started.
Cheng had catastrophic plans for the world. He used the override device to send a message to the USS Massachusetts to fire on a Chinese carrier, which will result in all-out warfare and strife!
Seriously, how will Jack be able to save the world this time?
